Making crepe paper pumpkin people decorations is a lot of fun. This craft project is great for adults and children it allows you to really use your imagination. If you enjoy making the pumpkin people, you can make an entire family!
To make crepe paper pumpkin people you will need the following supplies. Crepe paper in an assortment of colors but be sure you include orange, green and black.

You will also need shears, clear drying glue, an assortment of buttons, small to large size Styrofoam balls (for the pumpkins body - you may want to get an assortment of sizes in case you want to make a pumpkin family), wiggly eyes or regular eyes, and mouths. You can of course, make the eyes, the buttons are for the nose and if you would like we recommended thread for the mouth so you will also need a needle and an assortment of thread you can pick up a small sewing kit at any dollar store. You may also want to get some felt if you want you can make the pumpkins facial features out of felt you can also make a hat and shoes for your pumpkin people with felt if you decide to give them a hat and shoes.
A few finial things you will need include ribbon that is thick but somewhat thin in width this will be your pumpkins legs and arms if you decide to give the paper pumpkin people arms and legs.
Once you have all of your supplies you are ready to get started. The first, thing you are going to want to do is cover your Styrofoam ball (the body and head) in crepe paper ideally orange works best however, other fall colors will work too. Use the clear drying glue to attach the paper. Before you start to decorate your pumpkin person, you will want to assemble it. Therefore, next you will want to attach the legs and arms. Cut the ribbon the length you desire and use the glue to glue on the legs and arms. For the legs place a tiny dot of glue on the bottom of the pumpkin and attach the two pieces of ribbon let it set until the glue is dry and the legs are secured. If you want to give the pumpkin person arms follow the same instructions (a tiny dot of glue on the side of the pumpkin and let it dry.
Next, you can start to give the pumpkin a face using either scrap pieces of crepe paper or the store bought items. To make a mouth using the thread - thread your needle with your choice of colored thread and gently sew a zigzag line where the mouth will be. You must be very careful when sewing on a mouth thread the needle through the crepe paper and if there is enough room (there should be) very gently feed the needle and thread out through the first part of the paper only and continue this until the mouth is complete. Using a needle and thread for the mouth is very difficult and only recommended for experienced sewers. If you are not comfortable with this, you can use a magic marker and draw on the mouth or glue on one you purchased.
By now, your pumpkin person should be completed. Now, because your pumpkins body is round you will need a "nest" to set it in so it does not roll away. You can make this with crepe paper lay out a few sheets of the paper place the pumpkin ball inside and shape the paper nest until it forms around the pumpkin make sure the legs are hanging out of the "nest" now, place your pumpkin person on a stand, table, fireplace mantel or wherever you would like it (them) to go.
Making these paper pumpkin people is a lot of fun and you can even make a pumpkin town with the help of small and medium size square boxes just cover them with crepe paper and use magic markers to draw on the door, windows or even a store sign or name. Just have fun with the crepe paper pumpkin people and you will be amazed at the final creation!
